Words on Back: I met this brown pelican at the National Zoo. I named him Perry and gave him extra bright yellow feathers that would be part of his full courtship regalia. The tragic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico this spring has threatened the well-being of so many brown pelicans and other wild creatures. It compelled me to paint Perry now.
