Words on Back: When hiking in the mountains of Italy, one is apt to meet cows. Cows are led up to mountain pastures with some fanfare in the spring and are called home in September. I met Rosa, Bella, and Gina in the Dolomites. I refer to them as my Tre Mucce (three cows in Italian). They were curious and gentle.
