Words on Back: Pikas are hearty little mammals who live in rock piles high in the mountains of western North America. They have relatives in Asia too. Pika Pete admires the spring flowers in his back yard in Wyoming’s Wind River Range. Among the first flowers to pop up near snowbanks are Avalanche Lilies, Marsh Marigolds, Pasque Flowers and Fairy Primroses.
