Words on Back: Pikas are hearty little mammals who live in rock piles high in the mountains of western North America. They have relatives in Asia too. Moose show up in the lower elevations of pika country. Fireweed, Lemmon’s Paintbrush and Nuttall’s Larkspur catch Maurice’s attention. Moose live in the forests of Vermont too. Sometimes they visit town.
